Description
The savannah it is a hybrid cat, it's born from the crossing between a Servalo, a African Feline and a domestic cat.
The breeders are working from many years on this race. The first one to create a savannah was Judee Frank in 1980, but it is alone in years 90 that the first Savannah comes recorded from the International Cat Associaton (TICA) from Joice Sroufe.
From then the breeders have joined their forces in order to produce a Savannah that meet the most possible standard.
The Savannah is a cat that has maintained the physical characteristics of the servalo with domestic cat temperament
It can be described like funny friendly, curious, much assets that it loves to play, to run and to jump. If exposed soon to persons and other animals the savannah it will enjoy the company of the owners and will socialize a lot also with new, hosts etc.
Jamila as an example, loves the persons, it is extremely affectionate and it gratifies me every day with heads bots .
The Savannah demands the same type of cures of the other cats in terms of food, cures veterinaries and maintenance.
Considered that the Savannah is a crossing between a wild cat and a domestic cat, we refer to the generations in order to establish the distance of the cat from its ancestors servalo, with a letter F and a number:
F1= First generation, with a parent servalo (50% servalo)
F2=second generation, the servalo is grandfather (25% servalo)
F3= Third generation, servalo great-grandfather (12% servalo)
F4= Quarter generation (6% servalo)
F5= Fifth generation (5% servalo)
It is important to know savannah male is sterile till the fifth generation and also for this reason savannah is not easy to raise.
The connection between servalo and a domestic cat demands much time, patience and cures postborn , since the time of gestation and the size between the two species are different and there is not guarantee is compatible for the connection.
All these factors explain because the rare and expensive race savannah .
But the result is an extraordinary cat!
The Savannah F1 can arrive to the 9 - 10 kilograms of weight, also the following generations can show considerable dimensions.
Usual male has a greater increase compared to the females of the same litter.
The cats of this race can go in agreement with the other animals of the house, demonstrate their affection giving of the “heads” bots of welcome, blink literally their head against yours just to say HI.
Thanks to its long legs the Savannah is an elegant jumper and like the servalo often it executes extraordinary performances, making enormous jumps in the air.
It loves the water and it is enjoyed the bath and will be more happy with a full water trough that with one of the other cats games .
As the other cats the Savannah can live with the children and the other pets.
